When The Rotted still was called Gorerotted and I (s)experienced them for the first time live, I was really mutilated within some minutes. Excellent aggressive and grinding death metal was puked out over the audience and was taking victims by the discs.

Unfortunately since 2005 after the final gore and rotted master body piece “A New Dawn For The Dead” also a new down for the band was starting. The death metal style was not only changed by the new name, but also changed musically by adding a decent dose of old school and more groove orienta(l)ted death metal; or in my opinion “got deadlier and died grinding”.

Off course The Rotted knows how to write indecent songs, how to execute them and how to combine their new fresh sounds with their old traditions. This also counts for their second full length “Ad Nauseam” under the “The Rotted” banner. Eleven rotten and mostly mid tempo based death metal tracks are waiting for your attention with an intense groove and influences ranging from Napalm Death cooperating with Motorhead; even hardcore traditions can be discovered during this 40 minutes.

While I lust my interest a few years ago, my opinion is coloured! Yours might be brighter with “Ad Nauseam”.

Old school 90’s death metal mutilated into the modern times…
